FAQ

Wise Mind Nutrition is an app experience that is smooth and interactive, aimed at helping you (or your clients) improve mental health through nutrition and lifestyle.

In the app, you’ll be offered the same framework that I’ve used to help thousands of clients improve their health - guided by the convenience of your mobile device.

This app was made for you (or your clients) if:

  1. You feel like your mental health should be improving, but it’s not.

  2. You experience erratic gastrointestinal symptoms.

  3. Your mood and energy fluctuate often, and you’re searching for consistency.

  4. You feel trapped in an eating pattern and are craving change.

  5. You rely on trends like counting macros or intermittent fasting to feel better but don’t.

  6. You become confused, overwhelmed, and frustrated about food and health.

  7. You want to improve your nutrition but aren’t sure where to start.

If you’re a practitioner, you can monitor the progress of your clients using the app. If you want to become a practitioner, this tool will make it easy for you to get started 🔥

Here’s what you can expect from the free version of the app:

The subscriber version of the app contains educational videos and a digital workbook to start building out a set of guiding principles for improving mental health. Once you experience the free version, you will likely want to continue to the full program.

If you’ve already started looking through the app, you’ll notice a free introductory program. Consider this an appetizer to the main course (which is a data-driven transformative experience that unlocks when you subscribe). I invite you to dive deeper into the program and become a subscriber. Take a look here to see some of the topics that the full program has to offer!

The Wise Mind Nutrition App is very different from any other nutrition app out there. Let’s face it: hundreds of nutrition tracking apps are out there… and many of them have the same problem: they focus on dieting through counting calories and tracking macronutrients.

We’re doing something different here 🙌🏽

Wise Mind Nutrition is more of a qualitative experience, which means it’s not just about tracking metrics but also about your subjective experience in your journey to nourishing yourself and improving brain function.

The Wise Mind Nutrition App was created as a transformative educational journey that supports you in creating guiding principles that you can align with who you truly are.

It’s a nutrition app designed to help you think about food differently - not add more stress to your life. We do encourage cooking and provide plenty of how-to videos and recipes.

Check out the demo videos that describe how gems can be stored and the additional resources offered in the app.

In addition to the food log, the program contains videos and assignments designed to help you create a sustainable approach to nutrition for mental health. The dashboard will populate the work you have completed so you can build a “lifestyle medicine” approach to wellness.

I want you to be in the driver’s seat 🚗

Some assignments are simple, such as selecting anti-inflammatory foods you aim to eat (with easy recipes to try), and some require some introspection (such as setting intentions for yourself as an eater).

What Exactly is the Link Between Mental Health and Diet?

There are several pathways linking nutrition and mental health. Here’s a quick summary:

  1. Certain nutrient deficiencies can negatively impact brain function. One example is fiber, which most people don’t get enough of.

  2. Physiological processes in the gastrointestinal tract have been linked to all body systems, particularly the nervous and immune systems, which constantly communicate with the brain.

  3. Nutritional psychology captures the importance of how we think about food (cognitive processes).

  4. Sociocultural aspects connect the biology of food to the human experience, always considering how family dynamics, community, and our built environment impact our landscapes.

If you’d like to learn more about the link between diet and depression, check out my blog post and video, Linking Depression to Nutrition.

Everything I’ve learned about nutrition’s connection to mental health as a practitioner and researcher for the last decade was used to create Wise Mind Nutrition, from the food log to the full personalized program, ready for you today!

What are “Guiding Principles?”

Have you ever tried to make a diet or lifestyle change guided by one or two very strict rules? If you have, you know how difficult it can be to stick with it.

On the wagon, off the wagon. Start your day count over 😫

Unfortunately, programs like that can sometimes do more harm than good by contributing to “diet culture” and end up negatively impacting the mental health of people who are seeking meaningful change.

Yes, some people need a structured manner of eating. If that’s you, then it’s here for you.

Wise Mind Nutrition was created with a supportive framework for those who crave structure while encouraging flexibility for those ready to leave dieting behind them.

You can decide how much flexibility and fluidity you need at your own pace. Be open to where this journey can take you! Food freedom could be right around the corner.

If you want to learn more about these core components, I invite you to check out our video on Nutrition Rules vs. Nutrition Principles.

Approaching health and nutrition in this new way is powerful. If you’re on the fence or looking for extra motivation to keep going, here are some testimonials from people who have worked with me.

Becoming a Wise Mind Nutrition Subscriber

Once you see how your mental health indicators improve, you will want to keep “working the program” and getting the benefits of this new way of life. You might even decide to help others on their journey as a provider or coach.

If you become a subscriber, there are additional perks, such as access to live presentations where we can discuss progress and celebrate this gentle approach to eating food for mood and brain health.

I’m so grateful to have you as a part of this community, where nuance prevails and food freedom becomes available to all 🙌🏽
